Top 10 Florida Attractions – Sunshine State of USA

Here are a few things to do the next time you are in Sunshine State that will make your visit an unforgettable one:

Visit the Walt Disney Amusement Park

It would be criminal to not rate Walt Disney as the most popular tourist destination in Florida. It is arguably the most popular amusement park in the world as well. This is a position that it has rightfully earned, as it is a truly fun-filled place. Described by many as a place of magical fantasy, this theme park caters fully to the needs of children and grown-ups alike. The park is divided into four theme parks – the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s the Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There are a lot of fun and thrilling things to do in this park – from electrifying rides to the famous Space Mountain to interacting with your favorite Disney characters.

You have not really been to Florida Attractions unless you have visited this park, so be sure to stop by the place when you are in the Sunshine State.

Try the Cuban Sandwich

One of Florida’s signature foods is the Cuban sandwich. This fulfilling sandwich contains a slice of roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese and pickles on Cuban bread. It is delicious and satisfying, to say the least. In Florida, you will find plenty of other Cuban dishes such as Boliche, roasted plantains with cheese and Arroz con Pollo to mention but a few. Cuban dishes dominate the sunshine state because of its proximity to the country, and the high immigration rate of people from Cuba. If you want to taste authentic Cuban dishes, Florida is the place to go.

Go on an ATV Off-Road Experience

Explore the quiet and wild Florida countryside on an ATV. Cruise through the countryside, and see the raw beauty that Mother Nature has endowed Florida with. The rides are guaranteed to be thrilling- what with the unexpected bumps and twists and turns! The ride usually lasts for about two hours, and it is likely to be an unforgettable one. You will get to see the orange groves and the swampy wetlands that are so common in Florida. There is no need to worry about safety, as there will be a guide who will accompany you on your tour. You also don’t need to have any experience in order to enjoy the ride – simply hop on an ATV and get going!

The Everglades National Park – Florida Attractions

From a distance, the Everglades appear to be miles and miles of swamps and marshes. The truth, however, is that the Everglades is an exceptionally shallow river that flows from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay. When it’s dry, the river dries up as well save for the deep sections. But the most attractive aspect of the Everglades is not the shallowness of the river. It is the astounding ecosystem that thrives because of the river. Here, you will find all types of animals- from otters to bottlenose dolphins to alligators to crocodiles and even manatees. You will also find plants and trees of all sorts in addition to the endless grasslands.

Second largest National Park in the USA

The park is conserved by the government, thanks to the efforts of a group of environmentalists who in 1947 requested that the place is conserved. This is the second largest national park in the United States. To call it vast landscape would be an understatement, as it covers nearly 1.5 million acres of land. There are plenty of activities that tourists can engage in this park, some of which include camping, cycling, hiking, canoeing, and even kayaking.

Universal World – Florida

Yet another film based theme park, this is arguably the second most popular park in Florida and in the United States as a whole. It doubles up as a working TV studio as well as an amusement park. As expected, the themes of the park are generally derived from films produced by Universal. The park is divided in two – the second part is known as the Island of Adventure. Here you can engage in a number of adventures, such as exhilarating rides and several water sports. Within the park’s premises are a number of nightclubs and other entertainment joints, as well as three resort hotels. True to its reputation, Universal World is a must- visit park whenever you visit Florida.

A ferry ride to the Bahamas

Another fun activity that you can engage in when in Florida is to take a ferry ride from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas. The trip lasts for approximately three and a half hours. In these three or so hours, you will get to really see the Atlantic Ocean in all its magnificent beauty. But the most exciting bit about the trip is not the ferry ride. It is that you get to spend hours on the famous Island, which is the most amazing places in the world. On the island, you can go snorkeling, laze about on the pristine beaches, buy memoirs at the open air market or even go on a scooter ride. However, be sure to carry identification with you on your trips, such as a passport, birth certificate or a U.S resident card.

Key West – Florida Attractions

Key West is the southernmost city in the continental U.S and one that has a lot to offer tourists. It has a rather interesting history. The town grew to prosperity as a result of looted property from shipwrecks. However, in the late 19th century, navigation was improved, and this led to the town’s steady decline. The city still somehow manages to stand aloof from the rest of the world. And has a somewhat isolated feel to it, but it still attracts tourists by the droves. Some of the attractions to the city include Ernest Hemingway’s former home and the Lighthouse as well as the Dry Tortugas National Park. This park has a lovely reef island and tourists can snorkel or even just laze by the beach.

Kennedy Space Center

If you like sci-fi or are intrigued by astronomy and life beyond earth, then the Kennedy Space Center is a must visit for you. This center holds a special place in the hearts of Americans. As virtually every U.S human space flight since 1986 was launched at the center. Touring the entire center by walking is a virtual impossibility. As the place is rather vast, so there is a bus that takes you to the place. If you happen to be there when a rocket is being launched, you can purchase a launch pass in order to witness the launching.

Try the Sea Food

The very fact that Florida has an extensive coastline means that it has some of the best seafood in the entire country. There is virtually no kind of seafood that you can’t find in Florida. There are shrimps, lobsters, oysters, crabs and plenty of fish. Fish sandwiches are also a specialty of Florida, as some of the best can be found only in this state. The next time you are in Florida, be sure to try some of the stone crab or rock shrimps. You will certainly not be disappointed with these Florida Attractions.

Spiritualist Community of Cassadaga

One last thing that you must do when in Florida is, visit this world-famous community of spiritualists who are endowed with psychic powers. If you have any questions in your life whose answers you have been seeking to no avail, perhaps these able psychics will be able to help you out.

Conclusion

Florida has a lot to offer tourists. It certainly deserves its place as one of the most popular tourist destinations of all time. When you are in this sunshine state, be sure to visit all the Florida Attractions mentioned above for unlimited fun.

  1. I suppose many tourists want to come to FL because of Disney World or the Space Center or even Miami or Orlando to catch a Cruise. However the area is really expensive and full of tourists. in my opinion there isn’t much value for the money. for real value rent a car and stop in the smaller villages near the sea where prices will be lower and people relate to you in a more individual way

    • You are right Barbara. However, for the first time visitors and for the families Disney and space center remain the main attraction. Hope once they have seen these two, they will drive around the smaller places and see the place as it is and not as it is presented to them.
